Our friend, Chanito, went to be with the Lord this week.
He was a faithful follower of Jesus who served every Sunday at Iglesia Del Camino. He would position himself outside of the sanctuary doors in order to hand out bulletins back when those were a thing. Honestly, you could not get past the man without being warmly welcomed and given a program. And if by chance you did sneak by, he’d find out where you were sitting and deliver it directly to you.
I don’t know whether or not God is a fan of bulletins, but I do know that if He is, He’s already recruited Chanito to His Welcome Team.
Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent which is a really big deal in our city. Antigua and her surrounding towns host weekly celebrations culminating with one of the world’s largest Easter week (Semana Santa) celebrations.
Culturally, this is an amazing spectacle. Spiritually, it is disappointing how the resurrection is under-emphasized. And traffic-wise, well, let’s just say you have to be strategic where you park if you are heading into town!
This past weekend I got to travel to Cobán with a dream team from Iglesia del Camino. They went to serve our daughter Katey’s church by providing a retreat for kids while the parents participated in Iglesia la Gracia’s first church-wide retreat!
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. I Corinthians 12:12.
