During our time in Guatemala, we’ve installed dozens of fuel-efficient, wood-burning stoves. In the villages near us, the complaint has always come back that the families did not like cooking tortillas on the metal plancha of our efficient stoves. In response to this, our friend Fernando designed this tortilla stove for his wife. Now, it’s not necessarily fuel-efficient, but it does allow the smoke to escape through the chimney while allowing the tortillas to be cooked on a clay comal. I can tell you first hand, that these corn tortillas cooked on this clay comal are delicious!
Photos of the Week will show up every week in our Friday posts on Mission Erickson dot com. Our hope is that each weekly POTW helps you to better connect with our ministry in Guatemala. Enjoy.
