¡Feliz Dia del Padre!

Yesterday was Father’s Day here in Guatemala (always June 17th) and in the US, dads will be celebrated on Sunday. That means I get to celebrate twice!
So, in honor of my dad, who I miss dearly, here are the top four things I learned from him:
1. Speak truth and wisdom.
2. Take your family on vacation.
3. Be there.
4. And don’t be afraid to rock a turtleneck.

A Shot in the Arm

This week we made a quick trip to the US to be vaccinated. We know this is the epitome of privilege.

But, as our friend Annette says: “It’s also a privilege to believe and act like the pandemic is over. Globally, it’s not.” In Guatemala, a country of over 16 million, only 115,000 people have been fully vaccinated and our positivity rate has been between 20 and 25% for the past week. The world is a big place and many do not have easy access to medical care.

However, the principle of God valuing you is true wherever you live.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” -Jesus in Mark 10:29-31.
